Under Eave Mount for Starlink – How to Assemble and Install It

About Under Eave Mount for Starlink, Do you recall from your installation manual that the Starlink dish requires a clear sky FOV to ensure satellite communication?

Well, to achieve an open sky view, Starlink has recently designed a new mounting alternative called the eave mount.

Apart from providing the required elevation to prevent obstructions, the mount offers an elegant installation look.

I know you have several questions about it, so I am presenting all the details about the under-eave mount for Starlink.

Benefits of Using Starlink Under Eave Mount

Before discussing the numerous benefits of Under eave mount, let’s first briefly see what it is.

The Starlink under-eave mount is a Starlink accessory that features a bracket engineered for antenna installation under the roof’s eave.

Moreover, the mount also offers an installation alternative where ground and roof mounting is impossible or undesired.

With that said, let’s see some benefits of this Starlink eave mount:

  • The most obvious benefit of using an under-eave mount for your dish is to provide elevation, which keeps the dish from obstructions.
  • Secondly, this mount type also offers a beautiful dish installation look that adds decor to your house exterior.
  • Additionally, this mount ensures you retain the integrity of your roof.
  • Lastly, the under-eave dish mounting shields the dish from heavy rain and winds, offering the stability necessary for steady signal reception.

How to Assemble Under Eave Mount For Starlink

Now that you know the benefits of the under-eave mount, you can plan its installation using the steps below:

Determine a suitable location

As we established earlier, your installation location should be obstruction-free. You can scan for obstructs such as trees, poles, and others using the Starlink app.

While on the location suitability, ensure the spot you intend to install your mount is strong enough to support its weight and offers stability.

Additionally, the spot should make your Starlink ethernet cable routing easy and convenient.

Assemble the necessary tools and accessories.

It is good to know that the under-eave Starlink mount comes with:

  • An eave mount adjustable at about 45 to 60 degrees
  • 2 lug bolts
  • 3-inch stand-off mount

Apart from the mount accessories, you will also need the following tools depending on your installation location and eave material:

Additionally, you will require some materials for routing your cable to the house where the Starlink router is. For this reason, the materials and tools you require include:

  • A screwdriver
  • Silicon sealant for sealing holes in the wall
  • Guys, wires for supporting your mount
  • A conduit or a hose to cover the ethernet cable
  • Walls clips for pinning the cable on the wall

Acquiring a Mast

In addition to the above tools, materials, and mounting accessories, you will also need a mast or a pole.

Remember, in most cases, the included mast may not be enough for your custom installation.

Since you will need to elevate your dish above the roof to avoid obstructions, you need a long mast to do the job.

The mast in question should also be about 1.5 and 2.5 inches wide since this is the diameter that most eave mounts accommodate.

Starlink Mount Eave Installation Point

When we talk about Starlink eave mount installation points, we have three, as we will discuss below:

Install upper Stand-off to Facial Board (W-bracket)

This part involves the installation of the W-bracket on the peak of your roof using the following procedure:

  • First, utilize the level to place the brackets upright at the center of the board
  • Then, make two pilot holes for the provided lug bolts
  • Finally, use the two lug bolts to secure the W-bracket on the facia board. Ensure you do not fast it tightly before you install the mast.

Assemble and Install the Lower Bracket on the Facia Board

Here is where you measure the length you want to install the lower part of the mount. After that, you assemble the mast’s bracket according to the established measurement. To assemble, I recommend using the following procedure:

  • Hold two lower parts together so that one top lies to the other and the bolt holes match. While here, ensure the final bracket length coincides with your established measurements.
  • Now, utilize the available nuts to join the two brackets.
  • Finally, insert the longer bolts through the holes at the center of the bracket starting from the back.

Now that you have successfully assembled the lower bracket, you must call someone to help with the installation.

  • In this step, use the level, place the brackets on the facia board, and mark the bolt holes.
  • Now, make these holes using a drill bit.
  • Finally, place your assembly and securely it tightly using the lug bolts.

Install the Mast

With the upper and the lower brackets installed, it is time to insert the mast in its position using the following steps:

  • First, ensure the mast’s bottom rests comfortably on the lower bracket
  • Now, place the provided mast straps in their position at the center of the mast
  • Next, tighten the mast clamp nuts to secure it snuggly in place
  • Finally, place the upper part of the mast in its place on the upper bracket and tighten
  • All remaining now is installing the dish on the mast, connecting, and routing the cable then powering your setup.
