  • Ensure your lead wire is as short as possible. The logic is that with a short wire, there will be minimal interferences; thus, the overall SNR will be high. 
  • Also, shield the lead wire from all possible interferences that could lower the SNR. You can achieve this by having a shield around the wire from the signal source to the measuring device. 
  • In addition, applying a high dynamic range measuring component would help with the noise. 
  • Finally, improving the signal level via boosting the excitation voltage will ensure the signal is way above the noise.

  • The wiring should be streamlined without any discontinuities, as these breaks can affect the excitation levels. 
  • Also, the strain gauge should have a relatively extensive grid area and resistance. With a high resistance level, the gauge can unflinchingly withstand the high voltage necessary for elevated excitation. 
  • Moreover, you should have a mounting surface with a high-quality heat sink. Some of the best materials to use include copper and aluminum, thanks to their excellent conducting properties. 
  • Finally, the prevailing temperatures will also affect the excitation levels. Hence, ideally, with high temperatures, the excitation will be higher than when the temperatures are low. 

How Can You Choose the Ideal Excitation Level?
