Starlink Accessories – Most Useful Accessories and How to Order Them

About Starlink Accessories: When you first order Starlink, it comes with basic accessories, which include a dish, WiFi router, tripod mount, and 50M cable.

However, this hardware may need to be improved if you seek features such as extending your network or specialized installation.

Fortunately, you can buy several official and aftermarket Starlink accessories to help you customize your network to your liking.

In this article, I will walk you through some of the most popular Starlink accessories and how you can order them.

Official Starlink Accessories vs. Aftermarket Accessories – How to Choose

The good thing about Starlink accessories is that you can order from the official Starlink website or buy aftermarket accessories.

In my opinion, I would recommend Starlink official accessories since they are easy to use and provide uniformity to your network.

However, some might be expensive with limited features and unsuitable for specialized installations.

In such cases, you can go for aftermarket accessories, which are cheaper and suitable for complex installations.

Additionally, aftermarket accessories ship faster than Starlink and don’t require an active account.

Mounting Accessories for Starlink

Mounting accessories are the most popular since the base included in Starlink hardware is not suitable for specialized and permanent mounting.

This section will show the most popular mounts, their uses, and disadvantages.

Pivotal Mount

The pivotal mount is a common Starlink accessory for people seeking to install their dishes on patched roofs or angled surfaces.

It is almost the same as a J-mount, only that the latter has a J shape at the end, and the former is straight.

To install it, drill into your roof, secure it with lag nuts, and ensure it’s vertical for enhanced reception.

Alternatively, you can mount it to a pole using a universal mounting adapter.

Then, secure the dish to the other end using U-bolts and adjust the dish angle depending on the roof pitch.

Pivotal is easy for DIY and professional installation and works on several surfaces. However, it is unsuitable for installation on tiles, clay, or slate surfaces.

Flashing Mount

The flashing mount is ideal for individuals who want to permanently install their dish on a shingled roof.

While it can be used with other mounts such as volcano and J-mounts, it mostly installs on the roof with truss head screws.

Its installation requires a professional to screw it on the roof and then apply cement on its edges to secure it permanently.

While it may be expensive and demanding, the flashing mounting offers leakproof installation.

It also helps you properly hide cables and guide them, offering strong mounting to withstand bad weather

However, if your roof is tiled, you must look for a flashing mount designed for tile mounting.

Ridgeline Mount

The Starlink ridgeline mount installs on your roof ridgelines without requiring any drilling.

It uses a weighted base that sits securely on either roof side while the dish mounting post protrudes from the center.

While this mount is expensive at $250 from the Starlink shop, the good news is that it is easy to install.

Ground Pole Mount

The mount consists of a long pole, which you can install into the ground using concrete or drilling into your deck.

It is suitable for individuals with a big plan yard without obstructions such as trees and buildings.

The good thing about ground pole mounts is that it is easy to install. If you already have a pole, purchase a universal mounting adapter to ensure the Starlink mast fits.

Volcano Mount

If you have a pitched or flat roof, the volcano mount is the cheapest option from Starlink. It is also simple to install as it does not require a professional.

The downside of this mount is that you have to drill through your roof to install lag bolts.

It also does not allow angle adjustment; hence, you can not install it on an extremely steep surface.

Note that Starlink allows a maximum of 30 degrees dish pole tilt, and exceeding this angle gives a ‘Starlink not vertical’ error.

Tower Mount

Tower Mount might be a good option for individuals who live in extremely obstructed areas. It is tall and gives your Starlink visibility for a clear sky view.

However, such a project is very expensive and only suitable for businesses or individuals with no other mounting option.

You must also install it with a strong concrete foundation and include a ground wire to prevent lightning effects.

Tripod Mount

If you seek temporary ground installation, a tripod mount is ideal. It can also be used on the roof for individuals seeking more height than a pivot mount.

To install the tripod mount, you just need it to have spikes for ground installation. On the roof, you have to secure it with bolts to prevent wind interference.

Wall Mount

The wall mount is an accessory for mounting your dish on the wall. Starlink offers two options for wall mount – the long wall mount and the short wall mount.

The long wall mount is installed directly on the wall and extends beyond the roof and overhang.

While its length is 16.8 inches enough to go past most overhangs, ensure yours is long enough to prevent obstructions.

On the other hand, the short wall mount has a short extension and is installed on the roof.

The only downside of the Starlink wall mount is the open arm that might collect ice or debris.

Chimney Mount

As the name suggests, this is a strap and bracket that you can use to install your dish on the chimney.

What I like about this Starlink accessory is that it is easy to install and requires no drilling.

Moreover, it can secure your Starlink firmly to withstand any swaying that strong winds cause.

Networking Accessories for Starlink

Starlink Ethernet Adapter

Sometimes, you require a wired ethernet connection because it’s more stable than WiFi when gaming or video confessing.

However, unlike the circular dish router, the rectangular one does not have ethernet ports.

Hence, you need the ethernet adapter to connect with the Starlink router and provide the ports. The device must bypass the Starlink router and use a third-party router.

Starlink Mesh Nodes

If you have a big house, the provided router may need to be increased due to limited range.

Thus, you need a Starlink mesh node to provide several WiFi nodes, which serves as a hot spot for your devices.

While Starlink sells its mesh node, you can also use third-party cheaper ones.

Starlink Extension cable

When your original cable gets ruined, or you want to extend its length, you can order the Starlink extension cable.

It is either 75 or 150 meters long, strong, and features connectors on both ends.

Starlink Cable Routing Kit

When you don’t want to drill through your roof, cable routing is the device. It has a routing tool, clips, bits, and sealant for routing the dish cable to your home through the wall.

What I like about the cable routing kit is its neatness; the clips safely let the waterfall into the ground.

Starlink Masonry Routing Kit

It works like a cable routing kit but comes with bits and accessories for masonry wall drilling.

The disadvantage of masonry routing is that its installation could be more challenging and require a professional.

RV Accessories for Starlink

If you are an RV enthusiast like me and use the Starlink internet, there are a few accessories to improve life. These include:

RV Ladder Mount Kit

You use the ladder mount kit to mount the Starlink dish on your RV. What I like about this setup is that it is easy to install.

Starlink Travel case

A travel case is also important to secure your investment when you are on the go. It is affordable and features a hard-shelled, durable exterior to protect your Starlink hardware.

The case is cheaper than most after-market options and features compartments designed for each Starlink hardware.

How to Order Starlink Accessories

You can only access the Starlink shopnce you once your preorder becomes full order.

For example, if you buy from areas with a waitlist, you first pay a pre-order deposit and wait until you get to the full order list.

In this scenario, your Starlink is available for shipping, and you now get access to the shop where you can order anything.

However, if your area is off the waitlist, Starlink hardware and, consequently, the shop is available to you instantly.

Conclusion

Now you know all about the most useful Starlink accessories to make browsing smoother.

However, in case you want aftermarket ones for whatever reason, ensure you order compatible accessories.
